Network Attached Storage advice by Paul Rubin
Hello all. I'm considering buying an NAS with RAID for a reliable storage of A/V data. There seem to be a lot of proprietary O/S devices, and I'm concered about what happens if the device itself fails. I have lots of WinXP machines around, so it would be nice if I could mount one of the drives...

CompactFlash: PIO Timings vs. MemoryCycle Timings by Tim Clacy
When using CompactFlash in memory mapped mode (CommonMemory space), where are you supposed to get the memory cycle timings from? There don't appear to be 'MemoryCycle' timings, as there are PIO timings, either in the device identification or Card Information Structure. The trouble is that although...

Extremely Fast Imaging of NTFS Volumes? by Will
I have an older Windows NT box that for several reasons needs to remain at Windows NT for a while. I need to find a way to image the boot device on this machine quickly, probably from a DOS or Linux preboot environment, but I would prefer to find a Windows based utility.

changing disk size in RAID 5 by morales
Hi, At job we have an HP Proliant DL380 G4 High Performance with a RAID 5 array with 4 SCSI disks with 36.4 Gb capacity each one. Last week one disk failed and the RAID 5 is working without one disk. My problem and doubt is that HP is not selling anymore 36.4Gb disks, just 72Gb or 142 Gb disks....

Seem's like a straightforward request "How to map the logical - Adapter x, to the physical - Slot y?" but it seems extremely difficult on wintel machines. There are utilities like lputilnt and hbaanywhere, etc for the emulex cards but even these don't show this information. I have tried fcinfo,...
