Dell Dimension 5100 - PSU N305P-00 by
sugnaboris
I've been helping a friend resurrect a Dimension 5100 desktop. All ran
well for a short while post-resurrection, but then the PSU apparently
gave up. I've checked the voltages on the mobo and optical drive power
connectors but didn't find anything there. The main board connector
was doing that...

what exactly is the RECOVERY partion? by
Joe[_23_]
Also, I see another partition called FAT- I don't see that listed in My
Computer, but it was found and listed by Acronis backup software- so I
backed that up too, but I have no clue what that's about. It's very small.

Bug in Dell Configuration Page by
No Name
I have been thinking of getting a M6600 elephant of
a laptop with the high gamut screen option.
However every configuration page for the M6600 has
a bug --- if one selects the high gamut screen, a
conflict with the microphone shows up, and one cannot
deselect the microphone.
I reported the bug 11...

have no one to holdher, and I don't want to stress her. She's curling

XPS 9000/435t FlexBay and standard hard drives? by
Nick[_7_]
In an XPS 9000/435t, is it possible to use the FlexBay slots to mount
standard SATA hard drives?
The FlexBay slots are meant for special hot-swappable USB hard drives, but
is it possible to mount a standard 3 1/2" SATA hard drive (or two) in them?
I know I'd have to add a SATA port card to...

XPS (L502X) Parts Catalog by
RJ[_3_]
Hello,
Looking for the part numbers for the JBL speaker system for the L502X
XPS (15"). I can find a few here and there online, but those are pulls
from parted out systems and probably no better than what I already have.
Short of root canal from calling Dell does anyone have some...

Slowpoke RAM by
Daddy[_4_]
After recently adding memory to my Studio XPS 8100 - which now has 12GB
of matched, Crucial modules - I decided to run Memtest86+ just to see
how things are going.
There were no problems with my memory (no surprise) but Memtest was kind
enough to tell me that the latency (CAS) of my RAM is...

Dell Optiplex 755 - Boots up on it's own. by
[email protected]
Don't know what's going on here. Talked to Dell support and they put
me in a "rebooting" category, which is not my problem.
I have a Dell Optiplex 755, 4GB ram, intel core 2 duo processor E6550
@ 233GHx. Running Windows7 Ultimate x64.
This computer boots up on it's own. For awhile, it would...

Add More Ram - How Many Volts? by
Daddy[_4_]
I'm thinking of adding RAM to my Studio XPS 8100 desktop. I'd like to
buy a pair of 4GB sticks.
Crucial sells two otherwise identical models except that one is listed
as 1.35 volts and the other is 1.5 volts. Both the same price.
How do I choose between different voltages? Or should I simply...

Dell PowerEge 1500SC Power Supply 04G856 by
Christopher Muto
I have a pair of Dell NPS-350BB 350W Hot Swapable Power Supplies.
These are good working pulls from a Dell PowerEdge 1500SC Server.
They are Dell Part Number 04G856 (aka 4G856).
If interested, you can have one for the cost of packing and shiping.
Weigh about 6 lbs each.

Wireless Keyboard on the Fritz by
Daddy[_4_]
I decided to expedite the process of cleaning my wireless keyboard by
running warm tap water over the keys. Everything worked well for a few
hours, but now there are certain keys that no longer register when I
press them (mostly in the second row of letters.)
Did I damage my keyboard by running...

Getting the Optiplex 755 and XP to cohabit by
Ben Myers[_4_]
I thought I would pass along a tip I found elsewhere about installing
XP on an Optiplex 755, which I am doing for one of the local
financially challenged entities. I started up my trusty XP Pro SP3
CD, and, crunch, the system ground to a halt with nothing on the
screen after the usual Boot from CD...

Dell Inspiron 1420 laptop by

Got hold of my daughter's laptop. She had xp on it but it ran so
slow it wasn't worth trying to fix so I decided to install win 7 ult

all is ok except for "Other Devices" and that lists three line items

Does Dell supply an actual Windows disk with new laptops? by
Bud H[_2_]
I have a 5 1/2 year old Dell Latitude D820 laptop computer and it came
with a Windows XP CD.
My two year old Gateway desktop did NOT. A recovery partition only.
Which I REALLY hate since I want a Windows CD to be able to wipe the
entire hard drive clean and install Windows myself.
Now I am in...

My adult daughter asked me (well sorta) what is good hardware /

has this idea of setting up a sound studio for herself. She didn't
say a thing about video but lets "assume" that's included. She told
me she likes Macs better...

Deal on a Dell XPS 17 by
[email protected]
Just saw this ad on a post in the online version of PCmag.
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2396501,00.asp
It boasts of, among other things, a 3 gig Geforce GT 555M graphics and
a two 500 gig harddrives.
That is a lot of heat generating components packed into a small
space. But all that is...

Puzzling Dimension 4500S overheating problem by

Ancient old 4500S sitting under a desk doing its job for lots of

I would really like to not have to remember all the things it would
take to configure a replacement right now. But it started failing,
hanging, crashing, sometimes...
