A problem when powering up a new ATX motherboard by
Al Skywalker
I have an ATX computer case with just one front panel switch. It
operates as a reset stitch when the system is up (you hold it 5
seconds until the system resets). The power supply is new and it has
a master power switch.
My new ATX motherboard has two connectors RST and PW_BN, but I have

Hi,
Anyone know how to get a IDE drive that's been in a PS2 or XBox back to use
in a PC? The one I've got won't set a partition using FDISK even after
using DBAN on it.
Thanks

USB 2.0 certified cable? by
Al Puzzuoli
I just purchased a Maxtor OneTouch external drive. According to the
package, the USB cable that came with it is supposedly "USB 2.0
certified". Currently, I have the drive connected to a USB cable that
was already plugged into my PC. I didn't think that there would be a
distinction between...

Thanks a lot in advance.

Hard Drive Humming when Spins?? by
Al Franz
My hard drive has started making a very faint humming noise when it spins.
Kind of like an insect you would hear outdoors, if that makes sense, not a
loud grinding noise. Is this something to worry about? Is this a
pre-cursor to something serious?

LCD TV as Monitor? by
Al Franz
Confused when I see LCD TV's advertised with VGA or DVI adapters on them.
Does this mean it can function as a computer monitor or would the picture on
a LCD TV be of much less lower quality then a product labeled LCD MONITOR?
Thanks.

How big of a power supply is usually sufficient for a standard business PC.
Is 300W sufficient.

add on cards.
I see some power supplies around 600W, why would someone need something like
that? Server with 8 hard...

As long as you are not installing a PCI-Express Video card is it ok to plug

the onboard video to a PCI-Express card then I take it you need to get an
approved Power Supply with the 24pin connector? Is my...

Has anyone used some of the newer motherboards with both SATA and UltraDMA
drive connectors. How does the BIOS determine boot order of the
hard-drives? Can you specify if you want it to boot from the first SATA
drive or the first UltraDMA drive in the BIOS?

256meg Memory : 8 chips or 16 chips ???? by

Just purchased 2 256meg sticks of memory on eBay and only 1 of them works in
my PC. Once piece has 16 chips (8 on each side), the other has only 8 chips
(8 on 1 side only). The one with 16 chips works on my PC. Does this make
sense or could the other piece be bad?
How does this relate to memory...
