Bulkiest removable storage media? by
Tim Shoppa
What's the bulkiest removable storage media? Drums etc. don't count
because you don't often switch the drum (although they certainly could
be heavy judging by nothing but the size of the bearings). I worked
with RP06 packs and some funky optical tape reels in the past, but
those were pretty measly...

WANTED: Spectra Logic E10000 Firmware Tape by
Boll Weevil
Hi,
If you have an extra firmware tape, I'd be interested in purchasing it. Our
E10000 is stuck at the initial bootup window and won't complete the bootup. The
support personal said the firmware is corrupt and needs to have the firmware
reloaded. They won't sell me the firmware tape unless I...

help to access external HD from PC and Mac by
Gizzo
I'm regularly a PC user but have just purchased a second computer
which is a MAC. I backup my data to a 500GB External HD with 5 NTFS
partitions of 100GB each. Each partition contains a different type of
date, ie Music, Videos, Docs, etc. I used separate partition to avoid
the risk of corrupting...

SATA optical drive problems with DMA/PIO transfer by
[email protected]
Hi...I'm trying to setup on XP Home an LG Electronics SATA GH22NS30
DVD-writer on an older Intel D845PEBT2 motherboard (ICH4 core) with a
Silicon Image Si3112 SATA controller. It 'should' work but something
is wrong.
The drive reads both DVD and CD data disks, but a bit slow (8 MB/s). I
can't...

Loses data when PC shuts down by
Maxim S. Shatskih
using this with firewire. I'm using Win 98, second edition.
Stop using Win98, it's a crappy operating system with poor history (on-the-knee
made-not-properly-designed-patch-over-the-paleolithic-MS-DOS).
Use some of the Windows NT OSes - Win2000 or WinXP.

Kompression poisto? by

Linjojen
pitäjillä/SUPO:lla kun on lakimääre tunnistaa KAIKKI kirjoittajanimet, koska

Thinking about Online Backup Over the Internet by

Hi,
I'm interested in hearing experiences with online backup providers,
positive, negative or otherwise. We're a small company with almost
200GB of data on Solaris and Win2K servers that we have been backing
up to tape. We are investigating online backup services offered by
EVault, LiveVault, and...

Terabyte Storage By Real-Storage by
Real-Storage
Hello NewsGroup,
I've seen some posts debating the merits of building your RAID or buying
your own RAID. I like to point out the benefits of purchasing your storage
needs through Real-Storage. I think the benefits are very clear. Thanks for
your time.

Warranty Length Not Related To Drive Life? by
Ron Reaugh
Has anyone ever heard anyone claim that the length of a HD's warranty was
simply a marketing and price point decision by the mfg and the warranty
length has nothing to do with expected drive life? Somewhere I think I
remember someone making such a claim and a bunch of trolls tried
unsuccessfully...
