What are peoples' experiences with ebuyer? by
Interesting Ian
I was thinking of purchasing from ebuyer. I'm not interested in after sales
service, and I'm not interested in my goods arriving on time. However I
*do* want the *correct* goods delivered undamaged. So what is ebuyer like
in this respect?
Another thing. I actually ordered a dvd writer last...

Time Computers and locked down modems?! by
Paul Hutchings
Chap brought his PC in to me today because he thought he was losing the
plot because he couldn't get any dialup connection to work on his shiny new

days ago, and the parcel was given yesterday to the courrier (can be tracked
online now), so I wonder when I will actually receive the...

Another invisible CityLink card by

My colleague who lives in Crowthorne, near Bracknell, ordered bits from
EBuyer for delivery last week; they were due Wednesday so he waited in. They
hadn't arrived by the evening so he checked the Citylink website - marked as
not in and a card having been put through the door. No card, but...

Looking for a new PC by
IE
Hi,
Looking to replace an ageing PIII 450 128 RAM (circa 1999) with something
more powerful that can run Linux (with KDE) comfortably. Budget is £500.
Can anyone suggest what I might buy for this sort of money please? Processor
to go for? Minimum RAM etc etc?
Many thanks.

Well, the mouse is probably at least 6 months old with signs of heavy

News Reader
Hi,
Nice to see a few posts in here again ;) - lol.
Used to be pretty busy with people talking about vendors, etc.
It has really quietened down now (almost nothing for the last few weeks /
months until a few days ago). Nice to see a couple of posts pop up.

DSR - dead pixels by
Tx2
It's OK to send back a TFT with duff pixels under the DSR, as you can
legally turn the monitor on to check it, and then send it back if you
find the display unsatisfactory; it does not have to be sent back as
new.

I have just bought used a P4 Socket 423 motherboard, which came without
the fan clips; it has the retention brackets (the plasticy bits).
I'd like to find any (UK preferably) place that sells either:
* the clips only;
* a whole socket 423 fan assembly (plastic bits and clips);
* a heatsink and...
