Separate Line in jack? by
Louise
I just got a new system with an Audigy 2 ZS. The audio sound is pretty
good and I'd be happy - except -
I use voice recognition software with a microphone, attached to a preamp
which feeds into the line-in jack.
The Audigy 2 ZS has combined the line in with several other inputs and I
have to go...

Cheap soundcard that can handle 120mA input recommendations wanted. by
Joe Mithiran
G'day. I am looking to get the cheapest soundcard that will allow me to do
HD recording on my PC. I seem to have blown the inputs on my onboard sound &
on a Yamaha Xwave PCI soundcard (no great loss, AUD $10), so I need
something that can handle higher inputs than these. Probably anything that

Cool Edit 2000 by
Dave W.
Hi Group,
Just starting with a new hard disk. Lost the lot. I had just paid for Cool
Edit 2000 (excellent program). New owners ADOBE are no help. I still have my
registration code if anyone has a copy of the original free download out
there (ie: non-registered).
Here's hoping,
Dave W.

Music-Recording problems by
garco
I need some advice about recording of music in my PC: A Compaq Presario
desktop, Intel P4, with a Realtek AC'97 Audio Chip and Windows XP Home.
I'm trying to record music directly from a Satelite Digital Tuner (which
gives a magnificent sound) to the Line-In socket of the chip, using the
program...

Audigy 2 card thinks its SB Live card by
greg
Hi folks,
I used to have a vanilla SoundBlaster Live card. I recently bought a
SoundBlaster Audigy 2 Value card, but when I go to install the software, it
thinks it's a SB Live card. The install disk won't let me install for the
Audigy 2 card.
Installing the SB Live drivers makes the card work,...

Headphone jack vs. Line out ?? by
Dutronc
Hi,
As you can tell from the question below I don't know very much about
computer audio, but would appreciate an answer very much.
When I want to connect my laptop to my HIFI's line in plug (3.5mm
plug), what is the difference between using the Headphone jack and the
Line Out on the computer? I...

Stuttering sound when playing AVI's by
Dan_Musicant
The same files played fine with whatever application I used a month ago:
Windows Media Player
Nero Showtime
Ulead VideoStudio 6.02 SE
Nero VisionExpress 2.0
Now, the sound is screwy in everything but Nero VisionExpress 2.0. In
the interim I swapped out my Santa Cruz soundcard (was using the...

Some questions about the GTXP by
Dan_Musicant
I've had this card more than a couple years. Just installed it in
Windows 2000 SP4. Before installing I downloaded what appears to be the
latest driver, 6.09, dated 2/29/2003, Version 4101, the largerer one
with the "DLS soundbanks." I'm using the coaxial digital feed from the
GTXP's breakout box...

onboard sound chip: advice needed by
jackson marshmallow
Could someone recommend a fast full duplex onboard sound chip, or a
motherboard with such a chip?
I hope to find something with reasonably good audio quality but don't expect
too much. The focus is speed, so I can do pseudo-realtime processing. The
software I'm going to use is W2k, WDM drivers,...

Installing Hercules Fortismo sound card on XP by
Jason Tsang
You can simulate a disconnection from the internet by removing your gateway
ip from your ethernet adapter responsible for your internet access (assuming
you have an internet connection that is always up, i.e. connection through a
nic).
After that you should be able to install the drivers on that...

Which sound card for a legacy-only DOS computer? by

Dolby Digital sound through coaxial digital SPDIF output from SB Live? by

Firstly, apologies for the cross-post - I wasn't sure where to post.
I am about to buy a Dolby Digital receiver which has both coaxial and
optical digital inputs for Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound. I am
wondering, if I hook this up to my SB Live 5.1 card, using the digital out,
will I get...
