Will LTO3 be underutilized here? 4 drives MSL6060 point to point Fiber by
JP
Hi:
We have a 2 steps project. The current situation is no in house backup
for 6 servers (windows: a fileserver cluster, and Exchange Cluster a
Sharepoint and an SQL one). The customer is buying a new MSL6060
library and plans to connect it directly by FC to a backup server as
stage 1, and at...

Hi,
I use Backup Exec for Windows NT v8.6.
Some time ago the backups didn't work.
I looked in the log files and found the following:
"Unable to initialize Remote Agent for Windows NT/2000 - performing
standard backup"
"RSM Database cannot be backed up because the Removable Storage
service is not...

Backup remote server on remote NAS by
[email protected]
We have our Backup Exec server in our office. We recently moved our
exchange server offsite together with on of our NAS. I was hoping to
have Backup Exec making a backup from the remote server directly to the
NAS instead of downloading data to the backup exec server in our office
and then uploading...

Manual unload of tape on a DLT 4500 by
John Redcorn
I've got a Quantum DLT 4500 minilibrary that has a drive error and the
tape will not unload.
I have the covers off and I got to press the "unload" button (on the
drive inside) before the robotic carrier squatted in front of it but no
luck. Every 20 seconds or so it makes that freewheeling sound,...

SANergy and Polyserve by
Faeandar
Anyone have comments regarding a comparison of the two? I'm fairly
well versed in Polyserve so anyone with background in SANergy would be
a welcome commentator.
I find little information, even from IBM, on this product; it's
requirements, performance, and architecture. The basics are there but
I...

AppIQ support matrix by
boatgeek
Just a general word, reviewing the appiq support matrix ahead of time
will greatly help you later. If the HBA isn't supported, don't import
it into the system, it will generate a lot of errors and cause a lot of
headaches later. (each vendor entries are seperated by spaces between
the lines and...

Buffalo Terrastation, anyone got any comments on this ? by
Fatboy40
I plan to buy two of these to be used as a cheap means of storing non
critical data and as an addition to tape based backups of our servers
(backed up to LTO1 tapes), in the U.K. I can get the 1GB Terrastation for
around £650 + tax.
Now at this price I know they're not the best NAS in the world as...

Tape Libraries - Which one to buy? by
[email protected]
The ultimate question... We are implementing a new production system
and need to determine which vendor to go with for the tape library. We
need the capacity to back up approximately 50TB weekly across four tape
pools, and are looking at a minimum of 300-cartridge libraries.
We're using Legato...

HP 30/FC support resources by
Secessionist
We have 2 x HP 30/FC chassis.
The units run PROM code 0173.
The controllers run the Clariion Flare OS. It is my understanding that
version 9.56.03 Flare Code adds support for 36G drives in the array.
Couple of questions:
i) Does anyone know a source for 36G disks with 9.56.03 Flare Code?

Ultra 5 and LSI8751SPE SCSI card in PCI Slot by

Hello everyone,
I have an Ultra 5, running Solaris 8, with a LSI8751SPE SCSI card in
PCI Slot 3. The SCSI card is attached to a D1000 disk array. At this
point, I cannot get the system and the array to communicate with each
other. The command "probe-scsi-all" detects the card but yields...
