general question about vertical SSD by
Yes[_2_]
Just a generic question. How are vertical SSDs mounted inside a
computer case? Do they require a new case or can they fit in an older
case? Do they require special mounting hardware?
I'm seeing more of them offered for sale. I've never owned one before,
so I'm having trouble visualizing where...

Plotters (and 3D printers) by
Mr. Man-wai Chang
What happened to them? I remember they were available to consumers
decades ago.
3D printers cannot replace a 2D plotter! :)

A Sandisk Thumbnailscrew by
Flasherly[_2_]
OK, one may presume, for embed or dedicated applications.
Applications you can reach around and stick your hand into for, say, a
fanny-packed handheld device;- I haven't one, actually, to speak of,
but rather a simplistically engineered, psycho acoustically-chipped,
shirt-pocket radio. ...

SanDisk Issues (continued) by
Flasherly[_2_]
Got aholt of a Sandisk's Human Representative. Upscale, nice kind of
guy, for a Middle/Far Eastern representative, although not especially
technically minded -- unable to resolve, technically, what's going on
here . . .
Working in the latest and smallest generation of MicroCard (thumbnail

Intel's Coffee Lake CPU by
[email protected]
It will still be 14 nm! Must be getting difficult to shrink the buggers
and get enough working to make a profit.
10 nm will be for portable devices - I guess they will be expensive.
Maybe Intel are betting that consumers are dumping desktops for
stuff like Surface.
Looks like the traditional CPU...

PC Usage = Mode4 MicroSD card = !Only! by
Flasherly[_2_]
Tried another card in a 32G variant. Another Sandisk.
Appears slower MODE 4 cards take to PC OS formatting utilities, as
recognized as a drive, through a USB adaptor layer. Faster cards, at
least those Sandisk offerings I did try, do not.
A PC format subsequently causes the card to fail. ...

Why a small SSD + large HDD? by
Nil
This is related to the broken computer I mentioned previously that I'm
trying to fix for a friend...
The computer had a 2 TB drive that had failed. I think I've got that
under control (I'll post about that later.) It also has a 16 GB solid
state drive whose purpose is mysterious to me. As it...

DB15 Old Joystick not support on x64 system? by

I want to keep use oldschool DB15 Joystick which I've 2 of them. Both is not working if I plug into x64 system. The blue screen parity errors come out and the system halt. I don't know if this error is normal or my x64 motherboard has a problem with the gameport-sound card. My x86 motherboard has...

"artificial intelligence" GPU - yeah man whatever by
[email protected]
Browsing through AMD's recent press releases, I saw that their Radeon
Instinct is aimed at AI. Nvidia had earlier made the P100 graphics card
supposedly for AI. I can't see anything special about P100 except for
a lot of memory and the ability for many of them to work side-by-side.
AMD apparently...

HDMI or DisplayPort? by

A 4K UHD monitor I bought as a Christmas present to myself is on the way from Newegg.

have HDMI and DisplayPort connectors. Which should I choose? I'm thinking
DisplayPort, but haven't been able to find any...
