Dimensions of Presario 1800? by
Whelan
Does anyone have a Presario 1800 laptop in the home or office?
I just need the dimensions of the case.
It would sure help if you could measure and post the dimensions here or
email them to me.
I have decided to make a dustcover for a laptop that is usually left open,
and want to make one for this...

Have just bought the above as a starter system for a relative,
It appears to have a 300 Pentium2 cpu, 128 mb of ram and a 3.2 gb hard

Anyone know how big a hard drive this thing will take if I decided to

MSA 50 Storage Enclosure Firmware Upgrade? by
Will
Does the MSA 50 storage enclosure have any firmware that can be directly
upgraded? The MSA 50 manual suggests the answer is yes, but the HP page
for this storage array has no firmware on it. The MSA 50 user manual
points to a link on the HP web site that is broken.

HP 6 Port SATA RAID Controller by
Will
HP marketed the Adaptec 2610SA as the HP 6 Port SATA RAID Controller. I
looked on HP Downloads, but the Windows 2003 "driver" for this controller
isn't a driver at all. The controller works under Windows XP but doesn't
show up in Device Manager except as an uninstalled "RAID...

SmartArray 5Si Creating Boot Volume With 32 Sector Offset by
Will
The boot volume on a DL585 server with a SmartArray 5Si adapter is being
created with a 32 sector offset. This is seen under Windows 2003 64-bit
using Symantec Storage Foundation for Windows Basic 5.0. Every other
device created under Windows has a 63 sector offset. Even other drives...

MSA1000 Controllers 218231-B21 and 218231-B22 by
Will
Is someone here familiar with what is the difference between the original
MSA1000 controller part number 218231-B21 and the newer version 218231-B22?
Are there any reasons to avoid the older model? Are they functionally
identical parts?

MSA1500 Uses the MSA1000 Controller? by
Will
The service and maintenance guide for the MSA1500 shows the second
controller for the MSA1500 is the MSA1000 controller. So does this mean
the MSA1000 and MSA1500 controllers are identical to each other?!

Can You Use Generic SATA Drives in Compaq SATA RAID Arrays? by
Will
One of the nice features of the 4000 series fibre channel arrays was that
you could get away with using generic hotswap SCSI drives in the arrays, as
long as you had Compaq trays for them. Do the newer SATA RAID arrays have
the ability to use generic SATA drives in Compaq hotswap trays?

Reliability of 4214 Cases by

In general what has been the experience of others with the Compaq 4214R
hotswap case? I've had great luck with the earlier hotswap cases that did

SCSI hotswap trays). But the 4214R has proven really unreliable for...

Expanding Drives on Fibre Channel Array by
Will
The RA4000 and RA4100 fibre array software warns you that you
cannot expand drives when they run under Windows 2000. What is
the observed behavior for such cases? I tried to do it with a
small sample NTFS volume I created, and it worked without any
problems at all.

Compaq W8000 With 4GB Showing 3440 MB by
Will
I installed eight 512MB RDIMMs (using authorized Compaq part numbers for the
memory) onto a Compaq W8000 workstation. At bootup the computer BIOS is
reporting only 3440 MB present.
Is this a limitation of a particular BIOS release? Is it corrected by a
later upgrade?
Or would this indicate...
