SAS drive permanently "busy"? by
Percival P. Cassidy
Being in need or a spare 6TB drive for my FreeNAS machine, I found a
Seagate-recertified SAS drive with more then 4 years warranty remaining.
But whether I plug it into a motherboard SAS port or a port on the
add-on SAS card, the "busy" light stays on the whole time. Is this
normal SAS drive...

How detect if MP3 player is recording in your room? [OT] by
Joey
Suppose someone visited your office or home and tried to make a voice
recording using a hidden recorder.
If they used a older-style dictation machine based on tape then you
could detect the electromagnetic transmissions from the dictation
machine when it was recording.
But how would you detect...

Do I always need to close or stop a USB flash drive before I remove
it?
I'm using XP. In XP's Device Manager there is an entry for Disk
Drives and when I look at the Policies tab for the flash drive, it
says:
"Optimized For Quick Removal. This setting enables

WD data lifeguard tools on a HDD with data on it by
Greg
I installed a new 200GB hard drive as a slave drive using western
digital data lifeguard tools.
After uninstalling some software, Windows 2000 (SP4) now reports the

"Backblaze Hard Drive Stats for 2016"
https://www.backblaze.com/blog/hard-drive-benchmark-stats-2016/
More hard drive stats than I have ever seen. Th4 4th quarter 2016 table covers 79,939 drives.
The lesson is, don't buy hard drives as they are only going to fail ?

isolating new clone drive for 1st bootup by

As Rod Speed has pointed out, the clone drive
resulting from a cloning of a WinXP system HD
should be the only drive with an a WinXP OS
