ATI SUCKS!!!! DO NOT BUY ATI PRODUCTS OR YOU'LL BE SORRY!! by
Tim Reed
I have used an AIW Radeon w/Media Center for a couple of years and it has
ALWAYS been trouble; thru 3 different OSs - Win98, Win2000 & Win XP Pro -
and I have NEVER been free from crashes & malfunctions despite frequent
updates. But tonight I really blew a gasket. I was using MC 8.5 to record...

ATI says the 'catalyst 3.8 monitor damage' scare is bogus by
rms
http://www.hardocp.com news item, and elsewhere.
The 3.8 drivers causing monitor damage scare is probably some Nvidia
mis-information counter-espionage campaign effort.
We need more Yellow Alerts from Ashcroft's office to take our minds off
videocard terrorism.

Idiotic ATI website by
J
Why did they go and change it again? Now you're only like 17 clicks away
from finding your download--which contains 17 brand new bugs, incidentally.
Something is definitety severely wrong with these morons. I'm shocked
they're smart enough to put out any sort of product at all...

LCD larger size -- what for ?? by
Beladi Nasrallah
I have an 19" LCD monitor with the resolution 1440 x 900, and I play
such games as Half-Life 2 DM, Team Fortress 2, Bioshock, FEAR, Dark
Messiah and Silent Hunter 4.
So far, I felt that the screen size (19") was al'right for the first-
person shooter (FPS) games, as I could hold all of the screen...

Bit in the ass by ATI. Again. by
Rick
It's been a few years since I last looked at ATI products. (I had
been scared away by a long string of pitiful experiences with
ATI's pitiful drivers, back in the "good old days".)
I was looking for a card that I could use now, on an admittedly
ancient P3/Intel BX system, and also that supports...

CPU Scaling and New Video Cards by
Frodoh
I hope this crosspost is ok.
Ok here's my problem with where PC gaming is going. I built an AMD 1.53 GHZ
machine w/ 512 megs of ram and a Geforce 3 Ti200 in 2002. Obviously this
system is not ready for Far Cry and Doom III generation of games.
Ok fine ...
So can I just buy a new video card and...

Fool Me Twice...... ATI got me by
Judge
I've been around the PC game longer than I care to remember, and I
remember waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back when ATI was really the only choice
for video cards. Later on, when others came into the market, ATI still
made good hardware, but made the worst drivers in the business. I've
stayed away from their...

SmartGart by
Phoenix AG
Hi,
I believe it is better to disabe Fast Writes for optimal performance
with ATI cards. The thing is, I can find and disable Write Combining
in Display Properties.
But there is no option in my BIOS to disable Fast Writes!
Then I heard that it could also be done throught the SmartGart...

Doom 3 + ATI card = lots of artifacts! by
John
Nasty surprise here...
I bought Doom 3, played it for about 1.5 hours on my Radeon 9800 Pro,
then started getting lots of white and red "sparklies" (artifacts).
Very troublesome considering I'm not overclocking the card. So I went
surfing around the net and discovered many other ATI owners are...
