ghosting my original dell drive by
yirg.kenya
I want to ghost my original 160GB hard drive from my Dimension E510 to
a new 1 TB drive which came with a "free" SATA-USB external adapter,
and to use this as my internal C drive, the old drive becoming a semi-
portable one.
However, after ghosting the C partition to the new drive, and...

Ventilation Fans That Spin at High Speed by
Daddy[_3_]
When I start my Studio XPS 8100 (from the Power button), one or both of
the ventilation fans spin at high speed until Windows starts. This is
usually no bother at all. However, if I boot the computer from a CD or
DVD, or if I have entered the BIOS, the fans spin continuously at high
speed until...

Old Dell Secondary HD Replacement by
Rich[_9_]
Greetings,
My wife's old Dell came with a 100G HD. A few years ago, I threw an old 40G
2nd HD in it because she was running out of space. She had purchased Adobe
Photoshop so I had her install that (because of the size of the installation
& the lack of space on the original drive) on the...

Pat Conover[_2_]
Hi,
My Dimension 9150 died, won't boot, and I think it is a memory problem.
According to lights on front and Dell manual it has a memory problem. Two
sticks of OEM memory for 1GB total. Removed 1 stick of memory and it boots
but runs slow, tested with second stick in one slot and also runs...

16X DVD+/-RW Drive.... will this "burn" DVDs. by
NJ_Annie
Hi... Thinking of getting a desktop. More than likely I'll opt for
an "entry level" desktop. I see an option for a 16X DVD+/-RW Drive.
Will this read and write BOTH CDs and DVDs?
Thanks in advance.

Pure Sine Wave UPSes for New Dell PCs by
Daddy[_3_]
I had to give myself a basic education on alternating current, output
waveforms and active PFC power supplies just to be able to ask this
question.
It all started because I heard that new Dell PCs need a new kind of UPS
(uninterruptible power supply.)
It's a fact: To comply with regulations,...

Wireless connection by
Steve
I have an XPS M1330, can't obtain a wireless connection to my router.
I've tried two other laptops in the same location, with no problems
connecting.
Sometimes it finds no network connections available, other times it
indicates a poor signal when the other two laptops show the signal as
excellent....

Is this BS by

I got the email below from Charter. About 15 months ago I got tired of
paying their $5/month modem charge and bought a new (reconditioned) lynksys
modem. It works great but I have noticed that things are a tad slower of
late. But I don't know if this is accurate, or just a sales pitch. Is there...
