curious if people are satisfied with their old machines? by
Trevor Smithson
The computer I'm writing this on is now over four years old. It's
been upgraded some, like most every computer I've owned, but its
far and away the most satisfied I've been with a four year old system.
At the moment I have two web browsers open, this newsreader, two
virtual machines,a media...

my other desktops to the hotspot. Can you or do they make a backwards

things...

Do you think turning off a drive extends its life? by

I have a spare machine I leave on 24/7. I use one of the drives
frequently, but I almost never use the second drive. I considered
just unplugging the drive.
I saw this, but I have never tried it. The spare machine is...

making Frankenstein Intel coolers out of different models ? by

Various models. I notices that the copper-core jobs have fans with

Now if I take the copper-core heatsink with the highest fins, and
put on it the fan...

PC has no video and no beep code?? by
Roy Mottola
This is a windows machine, P4, Asus P4C800ED board. Machine worked
flawlessly for years, suddenly lost video. Hard drive lights and fans stayed
on. When attempting to reboot, fans come on but no beep code. My question:
What are all the possible reasons for why the machine won't beep, other than...

Another attempt to make DIY iPod charger by
Man-wai Chang
I found a Polar USB hub with AC adaptor.
Shorted data+ and data- pins of one USB port after isolating them from
the hub's chip.
This time, the USB hub is being powered ONLY and directly from its AC
adaptor, rather than using an AC to USB adaptor.
It works, including hot-plugging.

Put your downloads on the cloud so you can access it with all your mobile

put it there. I think there is a Ubuntu cloud, a Suse cloud, etc....
Who used them?

Bad wiring - No. 2? by

I'm delighted to see Paul in on this PSU problem. I have a PC Power &
Cooling Silencer, 610W EPS12V. It went belly up about 6 months ago, just
after the 3 year guarantee was up, and I came close to dumping it
several times since but, because it cost far more than the earlier PSUs
I had bought,...
