TCRonson
I'm in the process of building a new computer system, and there are a few
things I don't know about for sure (this could get interesting). I plan to
boot to a 2 SATA RAID 0 drive and have an additional larger HD for mass
storage (one of the reasons I'm building a new system is digital...

DVD ROM that reads subchannels, etc. by
Harry Muscle
Could anyone recommend a DVD ROM drive that reads all the information on a
CD or DVD? According to CloneCD this mode is called RAW-96. I basically
need a DVD ROM drive that can read the main channel, sub channel, lead in
and lead out and anything else that might reside on a CD or DVD. I know...

CD-R won't open/read by
K
I have CD-R's that won't open or read. One is strictly photos, the
other is data.
CD-RW's will open and read.
Message I get is: (drive) is not accessible/incorrect function. This
happens if I click on, or try open or explore. Won't read if opened
from a program either.
My CD/RW drive is...

Mitsui MAM-A THIS REALLY STEAMS ME. by
Bronco Lane
I recently ordered what I believed to be Mitsui cd-r's for audio
recording. The Web retailer (American Digital) has them listed as
Mitsui MAM-A.
Little did I know, until later investigation, that MAM-A is an Italian
company that has purchased the Mitsui patent/process.
These cd-r disks are...

External DVD by
Mark
I have tried searching before, but I hope things have changed in the
last few months.
Is there an external DVD (USB or Firewire powered?) which is either
Region-free, or can be hacked?
Thanks,
Mark

CD-R lasts longer than CD-RW? by
[email protected]
I have been told that DVD+-RW will last longer than DVD+-R
But what about burnt CDs?
Does the RW version have shorter archive life (and lets say we only
write once
and not reuse it many times)?

Packet Writing and Norton Ghost by
Edward W. Thompson
As I understand it Norton Ghost v9 will write directly to a DVD+RW and
CDRW disks. As Ghost also claims to allow incremental backups I assume
packet writing in the background is involved. Is this correct?
If this is correct is imaging by Norton Ghost directly to DVD+RW
unreliable?

Req: Yamaha 400 firmware...where to get please? by
www.ttdown.com
Win98se
Yamaha 400 CDR
Trying to get the above firmware in a last ditch effort to bring back
my daughters writer back to full life...it spits out ANY blank
media......even before attempting the burn process.
The reason for the firmware is that the writer WILL play AUDIO cd's,
and read DATA CD's.
