Data backup on CD-R: Symantec Noroton Ghost, Ahead Nero, Arrowkey AccuBurn-R by Avi Nahir
Hi all, I'm trying to understand how I need to configure my computer for data backup. I currently have Norton Ghost and Nero Express 5.5 (the latter came with my CD-R) and I'm trying to decide whether I also need Nero full and / or Arrowkey AccuBurn-R. Any opinions? Regards,

Roxio divesting its CDR software by David Arnstein
I'm not making this up! Read it at http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=topNews&storyID=5916377 . Roxio is changing its company name to Napster. The CD and DVD burning software is sold to Sonic Solutions. This is weird. The Napster business lost $8.1 million last year, while the Roxio...

Is DirectCD on XP possible? by BigJ
Here's the issue... Buddy backed up a bunch of files on Win98 wit DirectCD but did not close the disks. We installed XP but now when the disks are inserted into the burner they just spin endlessly. I have seen that DirectCD is not compatible with XP so we tried inCD which alsouses UDP format but...

CD-R's by D. Lee
I've been using Mitsui CD-R blanks for a few years now, as I believe that they're probably the best brand of CD-R there is (they're supposed to last a long time instead of going bad after a few or several years), and I've never had any problems burning them and then playing them back on all my...

The solution for my long file names problem. by John Corliss
My project consisted of getting 2 gb worth of .jpg, .txt and .doc files with really long names and complex (long names again) folder structures onto 4 CDRs. As suggested by Ric, I zipped all the files in my project into 4 big zip files, each about 500 mb. This preserves the long file names when the...

InCD vs DirectCD by Jim
Curious which is the most reliable? Using DirectCD it seems I often get warnings about data corruption. Usually after 10-20 cycles.

Sony CD Extreme & Sony CRX700E? (G'bye Easy CD Creator) by Dubious Dude
Hello, I'm encountering eye-bulging muck-ups in critical data backups made with Easy CD Creator 5 (such as missing files with no notification). This is a serious crime for data backups, so I've pretty well decided to try something less, er, astounding. After much reading, I've heard that people...

Explorer goes to never never land while copying files from CD by firesteel
I'm having trouble copying CDs to hard drive with my PX-716A drive. I'm running Windows XP Pro, SP2. Symptoms: I start a copy one of a batch of CD's made by a friend to hard drive, and it seems to work at first. (mp3 files) The first few files get copied. Then after a few minutes, the amount of...

Difference between CDRs and CDRWs by Evi
I have a TEAC CD-W54E installed with Windows 2000. I ran out of my pack of CDRs and bought some CDRWs but I can't seem to format them. My CD drive doesn't recognise that I have anything in it. But my old CDRs still work fine (although I don't have any blank ones left to test the formatting). I am...

S/PDIF What is It? by Bruce
I've been converting LPs to .cda using a Technichs SL-1200M3D turntable. It has RCA outs that I connect to a pre-amp/mixer, which is connected to the line in of my sound card. It's been working fine. I was browsing around and saw a Stanton...

Trying to Move Files by species8350
Hi, I recently burned two directories (simultaneously) from my hard drive to CD-R using Roxio. I wanted the two directories to appear separately on the CD-R, but one directory is a subdirectory of the other. They were originally completely separate. I seem to be able to copy the files to a new...
