Plextor 708UF CD-R media recognition problem by
Mike S.
My new (manufactured February 2004) Plextor 708 external fails to recognize
some common CD-R media. It is unpredictable and spotty; usually cheap
(e.g. CMC Magnetics) media that are initialized properly by other drives
(including older Plextors).
No problems with burning discs once accepted and no...

Extremely slow DV camcorder transfer to DVD by
PCpadawan
I have an AMD 1.3 GHZ with 384 RAM. I bought a Sony DV camcorder
& added a TDK DVD 880 burner & a firewire adapter to my PC.
I've been successful at burning some home movies onto DVD's using the
software that came with the TDK (Roxio DVD builder), but it is
excruciatingly slow.
Is there anything...

Software to test CD-ROM integrity by
Gravel Rash
I've recently upgraded a PC using parts from my existing systems.
Unfortunately, the new PC frequently freezes or generates errors when
attempting to install software from CD. I suspect a weak reader may be the
cause, but was hoping to run a few checks or tests on my drive (Ricoh 7125a
CDRW) as it...

Plextor DVD Burner/Software by
ellen
I just bought my first DVD burner - the Plextor 716A - and was wondering if
there's a consensus as to the best burning software to use with Plextor
drives. It came with Plextools Pro and Roxio. Right now I use Nero for CD
burning so I'm also thinking of upgrading to Nero 6 which includes...

Where can I get a cheap low-power amplifier? by

Where can I get a cheap low-power amplifier?
http://www.markvelectronics.com/store
There are very few available. One source is to buy a cheap boom
box and only use the amplifier. Another source is Radio Shack.
A third alternative is to buy a car stereo booster and get a
12V power supply for...

Verify written data (Nero) vs Q-check C1/C2 errors (Plextools) by
Kevin McDonough
When I started making archival copies of my music CDs as CDROMS, I
always checked the "verify written data" option on Nero. However,
when I got my Plexwriter Premium drive, I relied on a Q-check for
C1/C2 errors (via Plextools) after making the backup.
I am wondering now if there is any...

Recovery Software for DirectCD CDRs? by
A Person
I have written about this problem before. I have a large stack of
CDRs written with DirectCD. WindowsXP cannot read them at all, either
by itself or with the Roxio UDF reader installed.
I have a Windows 98 computer with DirectCD installed and have had
limited success reading some of these...

Liteon 5224S - Not enough butter in my fridge for all this toast!!!!! by
uncooked meat prior to state vector collapse
I have been having a problem burning CDs for a few weeks now. I have tried
several different burning utilities and burning several different types of
CD formats. Usually when I boot my system up I can burn ONE CD fine, and
every CD I try after that will fail. I wouldn't mind rebooting after...

Plextor PX-708UF problems with CD, but not DVD by
bruha
I have a Plextor external PX-708UF drive where inserting
a CD (burned, blank, or manufactured stamped) does not get
recognized. The light on the burner turns off and Windows
does not think anything is there.
However if I load a DVD (burned, blank, or stamped), it
works fine.
Is there a separate...

software conflicts with Windows 98 by

A neighbor is a musician who sometimes copies hard-to-find CDs for other

Windows 98.
He has always had trouble with the computer running very slow or hanging
up while copying CDs. A year ago a geek replaced his motherboard...

How does one make use of sub files to make DVD? by

How does one make use of sub files to make DVD?
I assume that adding it to Nero Vision Express 3 or DVD Santa
(which mentions something about it being to be able to do subtitles)
http://www.dvdsanta.com/
with the video file will make it appear after you burn it?
Does one actually need special...

Can someone tell me how 2 do it, step by step instructions, please. I

Is the latest Nero 6 able to convert wmv/mpeg to VCD ?
If so could someone please tell me step by step how to do it?

Is ISO superior to UDF? by
Louise
I am planning to burn disks for long term archival storage,
mostly of pictures. I will use Tif as the format.
But, does it matter if I burn an ISO disk or a UDF disk?
It seems to me that most machines will either have UDF, or
it will be easily obtainable and installab.e
Your thoughts are really...

data size >= CD capacity by

Hi,
I have a iso file of size about 1.2 gigs and I need to burn this
file on CDRs.
I know, I can remake 2 smaller iso files and go about that way,
but I am wondering if there is any way to burn the file on 2 CDRs
in such a way that when the first CDR is full, it gets ejected
and I should be...
