2000. I found one on ebay that was not Dell, made Aug 2000. From the

My Lacie USB 2.0 40GB died on me a few days ago: it still seems to be
able to connect (the blue light indicating that the connection is there
is on), but it makes a horrible sound (about 6 times for about 1 second)
and it does not show up in explorer (etc)
