98 didn't really have much of a speed hit, but if 95b is working, why
change?

Hi all!

I have a nice LTE 5400 with 80 MB RAM, a CD-ROM, FDD, 2,1 GB HDD and
all the other extras. The Laptop has a Pentium 1 150 MHZ MMX CPU.

What is the best choice for this machine? Windows 95b or Windows 98SE?

or:

Does Windows 98SE run fast on this machine? Or shall i better keep
Windows 95b(the Speed is amazing)

Compaq says that the LTE 5000 Series supports Windows98 and they offer
Windows 98 drivers and Software for this laptop. A good sign, but what
about the perfomance?

Wn98se was the 1st one MS got the Multitask working half decently (
still got lot bugs). and working reasonably stable not crash so offen. Wn95
multitasking not working at all ! ! !. multitasking was a dead before
it arive on Wn95. Just for that it is worth to change over if you
familiar how to use Wn98se multitasking. One more thing wn 95 Cab file
size was 98mag. Wn98 Cab was 115Meg. this is consider small with
to-day Gig byte hard disk. If you got a small 3 gig hard-disk partition
to few drives. you could have 2 copies of Wn98se on diffrent drives. you
don't even need CD-Rom to stsrt the whole sys. Wn98se was last small one
MS put out. Wn Me XP WN2k got so big. you need CD-ROM to start them.

Ok, thanks for all this info about Windows 98SE. So as result i will
take this to home: 80 mb ram, a 2.1 gb hdd and a pentium 1 150 mhz
have enough power to run windows98se and at a nice speed. i will make
a try!

thanks all
