Guys

Can these cards work on a non-SLi board? with no performance hit?

Correct. In fact this is one of the selling features - any board can use it.
Realistically you have to check this compatibility list
http://www.nvidia.com/content/geforce_gx2_sbios/us.asp . If your board is on
the list, make sure you have the latest BIOS.

They don't need an SLI motherboard. However you should check the
compatibility list on the NVIDIA site, not all motherboards support the
PCI Express bridge chip on the card..
